Kickstarter Campaign: Malcolm Ingram’s ‘Continental’

Over the past year, former Documentary Blog Podcast guest Malcolm Ingram has been busy shooting his lastest documentary ‘Continental’. He recently wrapped principal photography (including a shoot in beautiful Sydney, Australia) and is now looking for some help to cross the finish line. Like many doc filmmakers, he’s using Kickstarter to ask for your support in pulling together the funds to put the final touches on his work. For those unfamiliar with the film, here’s a few words from the Kickstarter page:

What do sex without consequence, men in towels and Bette Midler have in common?

The Continental Baths was a seminal gay New York City hotspot that existed from the late sixties to 1974. The baths themselves were a lavish Roman style affair, which were opened in the late 60’s in a newly post-stonewall NYC. Owner Steve Ostrow wanted to create a decadent and luxurious clubhouse where newly liberated men could explore with wanton abandon.

Told through archival footage, photographs, music and the voices of owner Steve Ostrow as well as patrons, performers and opponents,Continental will be a thorough examination of a time and a place not so long ago when the word positive wasn’t so negative.

You can check out the embedded video at the top of this post for some words from Malcolm and a first look at some footage from the film. After you do that, head over to the ‘Continental’ Kickstarter page and throw down some spondulicks (money) in exchange for some cool incentives, including a personalized mixetape! NICE.
