Filmmaker AJ Schnack (Kurt Cobain: About a Son, Convention) needs your help! He’s just started a Kickstarter campaign for his latest film ‘Caucus’, and he’s looking for some monetary support to help him finish post-production on the project. I really enjoyed his previous political doc ‘Convention’ (even for somebody who doesn’t closely follow American politics), so I’m definitely interested in watching this film’s assortment of colourful characters fighting for the Iowa Caucus. Here’s some words about the project from the Kickstarter page:
From April 2011 until January 3, 2012 (Caucus Night), we traveled all over the great state of Iowa filming the seven men and one woman who would seek to win Iowa’s “first in the nation” Caucus. During that time, our cameras captured moments that you’ve never seen, no matter how much you watch the news, of the Republican hopefuls.
Inspired by PRIMARY, one of the great works of documentary (and one created by many of our heroes), we went to Iowa to capture an intimate, observational portrait of the current political campaign. We were fortunate to have the help of a lot of Iowans who welcomed us and cleared a path for us as well as the campaigns that let us get close and film the candidates. We believe the resulting film is something that is going to surprise a lot of folks and we can’t wait to get it out and make it available as soon as possible.
Head over to the ‘Caucus’ Kickstarter page and check out some of the great incentives, including a $99 (or more) package in which you can adopt one of Iowa’s 99 counties. NICE. Head on over and shell out some quidley in support of this great project.
