Harvey Weinstein’s 1988 Letter to Errol Morris: You’re boring

Harvey Weinstein is not exactly known for his kind and compassionate nature but this letter that Errol Morris recently posted on his website must be a huge source of amusement for the filmmaker now considering the huge subsequent success of The Thin Blue Line.

At the time of the film’s release Harvey felt the director wasn’t marketing the film correctly so sent this charming letter explaining his view. I only hope it was also received as humorously at the time.

I particularly like this sentence:

“If you continue to be boring, I will hire an actor in New York to pretend that he’s Errol Morris. If you have any casting suggestions, I’d appreciate that.”
