Blood Into Wine Trailer: Tool Frontman Makes Wine?

So let me get this straight… we’ve got a documentary about Tool / A Perfect Circle / Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan, and it has nothing to do with music? Okay, now I’m interested. Apparently Keenan started his own winery in the Verde Valley in Arizona, an area not particularly conducive to such things, with the help of wine guru Eric Glomski. Blood Into Wine follows their attempts to break into the industry and bring credibility to the region.

Directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke (The Heart is a Drum Machine), I’m still not quite sure who the audience for this movie is. The trailer is mostly full of celebrity cameos (I can’t help loving the Tim and Eric interview), and as far as wine documentaries go, there is already Jonathan Nossiter’s 2004 festival hit Mondovino. I know there are a ton of wine enthusiasts out there, but will they take this movie seriously? Maybe it’s for the wine drinkers who are a little rough around the edges. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think. For more info, visit the film’s official website.
