2009 Academy Awards Documentary Nominees Announced

Betrayal

I must say I’m much more pleased with this years non-fiction Oscar nominees than last years. Unfortunately, I still haven’t seen two of the five nominees (Trouble the Water and The Garden) but I’m pretty thrilled about the other three. I’m especially glad that Ellen Kuras’ Betrayal – Nerakhoon got a well deserved mention. Man on Wire seemed to be a shoe in, but Herzog’s Encounters at the End of the World is sort of a surprise. I can’t say it really makes up for the previous Grizzly Man snub though. What do you guys think of the results? Any glaring omissions? Young@Heart perhaps? How about predictions? I’ll go with Man on Wire. Here are the nominees:
