Young @ Heart Trailer Now Online

1172935553.jpgThere seems to be some buzz building around Fox Searchlight’s upcoming release ‘Young @ Heart’. Ever since I posted about it a few months ago, I’ve been patiently waiting for an official trailer. According to some other bloggers, previews have been appearing in theatres before some other limited Fox Searchlight releases. Thankfully, Moviefone is currently featuring the first official trailer. Here’s the synopsis:

Prepare to be entertained by the inspiring individuals of ‘Young@Heart,’ a New England senior citizens chorus that has delighted audiences worldwide with their covers of songs by everyone from The Clash to Coldplay. As Stephen Walker’s documentary begins, the retirees, led by their strict musical director, are rehearsing their new show, struggling with a discordant Sonic Youth number and giving new meaning to James Brown’s “I Feel Good.” What ultimately emerges is a funny and unexpectedly moving testament to the simple things these seniors value: old friendships, new challenges and a little time in the spotlight.

The film reminds me of an episode of Showtime’s television version of This American Life, in which an old age home decides to shoot a short film. If it’s even half as charming as that was, I’m sold. Check it out below. I really think this has the potential to do well. Are old folks the new penguins?
